CHRISTMAS MESSAGE
MR. SAVAGE TO THE CHILDREN .■.*■-■

AUCKLAND, This Day. The Prime Minister (the Hon. M. J. Savage) was enthusiastically greeted by large crowds during, a round of visits to orphanages arid hospitals in the city and suburbs; where he left baskets of toys for the children. He was accompanied by the' Hon., W. E. Parry and a representative of, the Mayor. Speaking at the steps of the Post Office, Mr. Savage broadcast a .Christmas message by radio to all children of New. Zealand. The effect of the message was: "I want you to accept me as a friend, pot a fairweather friend only. If you will bvje my friend in the real meaning of the word there is nothing we cannot do." Mr. Parry also gave a message of good,will. He said it was hoped by legislatton to carry on .the Christmas spirit throughout the years.
