The visitors in their first innings made 290 runs for five wickets and declared (Dunning 135 retired Vipond 54, Wyatt 52). Suva, first innings, 50 (Bright five for 8 runs, Riley four for 15). Suva followed on and lost four wickets for 22 runs (Bright two for 9).

Dunning was forceful and scored rapidly. He gave-one very difficult chance. Suva were quite unable to handle Bright's changes of pace and mixed deliveries.
