TENNIS ATTRACTIONS
CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR TOURNAMENTS
Among holiday attractions to take place in and around Wellington during Christmas and early January, lawn tennis will take a prominent place. Every season for many years past, tennis has become more and more popular, until now it has more followers than any other summer game. Tennis tournaments provide • exceptionally fascinating interest, for it is not necessary to have expert knowledge of the game to appreciate the speed and accuracy and grace of movement to be seen in the game as it is played by tournament class players.
At Christmas and" New Year the Wellington' public will have the opportunity of seeing the best of New Zealand's playing strength in. action at the Wellington Association's tournament arid the New Zealand championships. Two .notable players from overr seas, the Australian Davis Cup representatives, Vivian\ McGrath and E. W. Moon, will play at the latter tournament. Another big attraction in Wellington will be toe East Harbour tournament on the Muritai Courts.
In the country two important tournaments will be. those of ■ the Martinborough Lawn Tennis Club and the Hawke's Bay Lawn Tennis Association, the latter to be played at Dannevirke. Several tournaments are also being held by clubs affiliated to the Hawke's Bay Association.^ Details of these . tournaments and other announcements of interest to the tennis public will be found on Page 11 of today's issue.
