Levi, chairman bf the council, to Mr. F. H. Combs, who was recently elected to the council by the public school teachers to fill the vacancy caused by the death of. Mr. F. H. Bakewell. ; ;. A gift of £106 6s has been made to the- council •of the University -of Otago by the old students of Dr. D. Colquhoun, acting through Dr. Nelson, of Wanganui. Dr. Colquhoun, who died recently, was Professor of Medicine in the University of Otago •" Medical School from 1883 to 1919,: and was emeritus professor from 1919 ;Ur the time of his death. It has now been declHed that the gift will be used first to provide a memorial tablet, which will be erected in the lobby of the building in which Dr. Colquhoun lectured during the latter years of his professorship, and, second, ior the provision. of a memorial medal and a money prize to . be, awarded. annually to the best' student iri medicine of the. graduating class. • '.. •;.-' • .
