DUNEDIN WOOL SALE
THE PASSINGS TRIFLING
STRONG ALL ROUND BUYING
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, This Day, With about half the catalogue of 29,769 bales sold by lunch it was clear that the Dunedin wool sale would prove satisfactory. Crossbred wools were up Id to 2d on last season's prices, while fine wools made an advance of from 3d to sd. The most optimistic estimates of venders were frequently exceeded. From the outset bidding was strong from all quarters. Bradford was outbid by the Continent,, Japan, America, and Canada for crossbreds, but some good halfbred clips went to the English centre. A marked feature of the sale was keen competition by New Zealand mills, which purchased steadily when super wools offered. Most fine pieces went to the Continent, while Japan, America, and Canada were strong buyers of crossbreds. The top price to noon was 18|d for nine bales of super combing merino^ Ordinary merino realised from 14d to 16d, while halfbred ranged from 15d to 18d. Showy crossbreds realised to 13d and ordinary 8d to; lOd. The passings were triflng.
