CREWS AT MELBOURNE
NON-UNION LABOUR
MELBOURNE, December 11,
Eighty-one licences were issued today to men desiring to enrol as seamen. The passenger steamer Taroona sailed for Launceston with a non-union crew, of 22 who were duly licensed. The shipping companies received applications from several hundred men for licences, mostly through the post. Crews have also been selected for the steamers Goulbum and Mernoo, which are expected to sail at the weekend.
