WELLINGTON WINS

MATCH WITH RONGOTAI

In the annual cricket match played at Wellington College yesterday between the senior elevens of Wellington College and Rongotai College the former won by 137 runs on the first innings. Rongotai batted first" and were all out for 138, the only batsmen to make a stand being D. A'Court. Hawken, and Kenner. Wellington College opened disastrously, Reynolds being caught off the first ball of the innings. However, Alexander, who retired after hitting up a .fine 106, in which were included a dozen fours, Thompson, Dyhrberg and Rough completely retrieved the position with solid exhibitions and substantial totals. Young, bowling for Wellington, spun the ball well, while Wall, although not called upon until the game was well under way, and Drake did good service for Rongotai. In their second innings Rongotai had registered 58 runs for one wicket when stumps were drawn.
