A BRIGHT SPOT.
.One bright aspect of the market, as it appears to ..Turnbull and Co., has been the interest shown by New York Jbuyers.. /Between 35,000 and 40,000 boxes have" been . sold to New York for shipment-per the Tekoa at the end i of this month.at round about lid and lljd, although today New York buyers ' are not showing 'so ' much interestLast season, when New York buyers displayed some activity, a considerable increase in spot' quotations- in the United Kingdom immediately followed, but although London buyers are fully posted;,; as- to the activity. • -■: of the Americans they do-not seem-to^be:con-cerned as to any possible shortage* :afidi' are.still prepared ..to sit (back and waitfora further fall in the market. The cheese market showed some improvement during;.. Noverriber, but, as is usual, has weakened with the hetvy fall in- butter.
The statistical position of cheese is very strong, and in New Zealand production is considerably down on last season. W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., cable that the cheese "market is firm on account of New Zealand gradings being so much reduced with quantities afloat in small compass. The immediate prospect for cheese looks brighter than that for butter.
