A BUSY DEPARTMENT
Members of the new Government continue to devote much time in visiting the Departments under their' Ministerial supervision. Practically the whole of yesterday afternoon was spent by the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Honi W. E. Parry) in a visit, in company with the Under-Secretary of Internal Affairs (Mr. J. W. Heenan), to the branches of the headquarters of the Department of Internal Affairs. The sectional heads of the Department were met by the Minister.
To a "Post" reporter today, the Minister said he had been impressed by the alertness of the officers and the 'efficient grasp they showed of their duties. "There is wCrk in Internal Affairs to, keep one's days very crowded. In a day or two I hope to visit the outlying branches of the Department—the Turnbull Library and the old and new museum buildings. Afterwards I will make a call on the Pensions staff and go thoroughly into the functions of that Department with the Commissioner (Mr. J. H. Boyes) and his staff."
Lawrence Nacey, a chef, was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment by Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today, for stealing an overcoat from the door of a shop yesterday.
