ERITREAN FRONT
ITALIANS CLAIM VICTORY

LONDON, December 10.
Marshall Badoglio reports that detachments on trie Eritrean front encountered, near Takkaze, in the region of Addi Encalo, a strong force of Abyssinians, who were put to flight with the bayonet. The enemy left fifteen dead. The Italian casualties were two Eritrean non-commissioned officers and five askaris, who were killed.
MENACE TO FARMS
THE VARIEGATED THISTLE

WANGANUI, This Day.
The provincial executive of the Farmers' Union today discussed the menace of variegated thistle which has spread worse than ever in the district this season. It was stated that thousands of acres were infested and it was almost impossible to eradicate the thistle on hilly country.
It was decided to recommend that the thistle be placed on the first schedule of noxious weeds in counties in the provincial district.
