MEDICAL SCHOOL
STATE ASSISTANCE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
DUNEDIN, This Day. Only 22 house surgeons to meet the '•eauest from hospitals for 40 will be '■available this year. Sir Lindo Ferguson, Director of the Otago Medical School, anticipates this will be the last year in which an acute shortage will be felt.
Urging an extension of teaching facilities, Sir Lindo said the increased Government aid necessary did not mean much more than the statutory grant of £6000 per annum which the school had for some years, and would not represent anything like the total grant which the Government ought to provide for medical education.
