ABROGATION QUESTION

Questioned in the House of Commons on the abrogation of the Congo Basin treaties, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade, Captain Euan Wallace, said that the Government was advised that the treaties could not be terminated or modified except with the consent of all parties, including Belgium, France, Italy, Japan, Portugal, and the United States, and under these conditions no effective steps appeared to be open.
