HELPING TOBACCO GROWERS.
An assurance that an application for a grant of £100, made by a deputation representing the Soldiers' Civil Reestablishment Committee, Christchurch, would have his personal interest was given by the Minister of Employment (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong). The leader of the deputation, Mr. H. Holland, explained that the committee had now had-two years' experience in the culture of tobacco at New Brighton, and it was largely due to want of capital that the project had not been as successful as had been hoped. Expert advice had been taken, and prospects were good.
