COAL-DEALER'S MISFORTUNE
No statement as to the cause of his bankruptcy was submitted by T. H. Callingham, trading as A. Callingham, a coal-dealer, to the meeting of his creditors which was held yesterday afternoon at the office of the Official Assignee, Mr. S. Tansley. Assets were returned as approximating £800 and debts £400, but it was stated that the assets, which consisted mainly of a building and section, would realise probably not more than £400.
. It was elicited from the bankrupt that he started in business a little over four years ago, but for the last two -years, he had not been able to work owing to an accident which injured his heart and spine. He now worked for his wife when able to, and she was carrying on the business combined with that of a second-hand dealer.
The creditors present passed a resolution to the effect that the Official Assignee should endeavour to sell the property within the next couple of months.
