"GIFT AFTERNOON"
A most enjoyable "gift afternoon" was held at 39 Bolton Street, Petone, recently, in honour of Miss Edna House, whose wedding will take place shortly. The hostesses were Mrs. R. House and Mrs. J.May. Several enjoyable competitions were held, the winners being: Quoits, Miss M. House; advertisements, Mrs. Woods; darts, Mrs. H. Childs; bottle game, Miss King; and lucky number, Miss J. McDowell. After a dainty tea had been served Miss House had an amusing^ time opening the many useful and acceptable gifts, and the guests stood and sang "For She's a Jolly Good Fellow." On behalf of the guest of honour Mr. Harlow thanked all present for the beautiful gilts, and proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the hostesses, which was carried by acclamation. The guests included Mrs. C. Childs. Mrs. Burns. Misses Burns f2), Mrs. C. Parrant, Mrs. and Miss Nicholas, Mrs. Woods, Mrs. and Miss Hendersin, Mrs. and Miss King, Mrs. H. Childs. Mrs. and Miss Barber, Mrs. and Miss Burrows, Miss J. McDowell, Miss H. Gillon, Mrs. W. Childs, Miss Molly House, Miss Campbell, and Mrs. Clcland.
