At the 'last meeting' of the Otaki River Board it was pointed out that as the result of culverts in various parts of the town being small they had been unable to cope with the flood waters and in consequence were the cause of the water overflowing. It was decided that an effort be made to secure larger culverts, and the hope I was expressed that, in view of the j road-widening in the vicinity of the i railway, attention would be given to ! the matter. | It was staled Iltat • ratepayers who had raided objection to (he proposed rate had, in the majority of cases, decided to withdraw objections, it being staled that they had been under a misapprehension- ■"w'
