PARTY SYSTEM WRONG
"I am standing as an'lndependent, for the major reason that I have disagreed with the Government I have supported and the party I have been associated with for a large number of years," said Mr. R. A. Wright at Wadestowa last, night. An Independent, he said, could be of considerable value, particularly when one found the main parties catering for one sectional interest. The destinies of Parliament were in the hands of the leaders of the parties. He maintained that the party system of Government was wrong, because it placed a man in a position which was not only ambiguous but which at times made him vote for that which he knew was wrong. He revolted against the party system because of the high exchange and other matters; he felt that the interests of the people he was sent to represent were being sacrificed.
