DOMINION WOOL SALES

MARKET PROSPECTS

OFFERINGS ALLOTTED

rfe'.? Zealand wool sales of the 1935 season begin at Auckland on November 26, Napier on December 2, and Wellington on December 7. At June 30 last there were 164,400 bales of greasy wool held over in growers' sheds and brokers' stores. The view of the trade is that this unsold wool should not much affect the mar-, ket when the new wool comes to be I offered as since June 30 the quantity has been reduced. ■ Estimates of the wool held over in New Zealand today vary, and no doubt are subject to correction, but they range from 98,000 to 112,000 bales. As to the future it is believed by those who keep in close touch with wool market movements in England and the Continent that the outlooK for all classes of textiles is good and there should be an advance of ljd to 2d per lb at the first sale to be held in Wellington this year on the rates ruling at the corresponding saie of 1934. But growers should not expect any meteoric rises in the market, sound as the position appears to be ;at the moment. ■ : No great surplus of wool is reported to be held in the various consuming centres. ■ • The New Zealand wool committee, comprising representatives of the producers, woolbrokers, and woolbuyers, held a meeting yesterday for the purpose of exercising its functions in regulating the offerings of wool, at the various sales to be held throughout the Dominion during the coming .season. The maximum aggregate quantities- of wool which may be offered at the sales were fixed as shown hereunder:—' 1935— -. : Bales.
