NEW MODERATOR'S ADDRESS

Over 250 delegates are expected to be in Wellington for the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, which opens tonight in St. John's Church. At 7.30 opening exercises are to be conducted by the retiring Moderator, the Right Rev. Principal John Dickie, D.D., after which the Rev. H. H. Barton, M.A., of Lawrence, will be installed in the moderatorial chair. He is to deliver an address on "The Church Militant."

Tomorrow at 10 a.m. there will be the Assembly Communion service, following which a start will be made with the business of the Assembly. This will include consideration of various reports and overtures by presbyteries.

Coincident with the holding of the Assembly, the annual meeting of the Presbyterian Women's Missionary Union is to be held in St. John's Hall. There will be 200 delegates attending this meeting, and they will be present at the Assembly Communion service.

Towards the close of the Assembly nominations will be received for the position of Moderator-designate. So far the following nominationl have been received —Rev. D. J. A. Shaw, Rev. J. Davie, Rev. W. H. Howes, Rev. J. Laughton, Rev. D. Mclvor, Rev. J. Paterson, Rev. T. H. Roseveare, and Rev. J. L. Robinson.
