LADY OWNER'S DEATH

.An Auckland exchange announces the death at Waihou of Mrs. Sarah Ann Lerinard, who had reached her eighty-third year: She was among the very earliest lady owners to race horses in the Dominion,, nearly all1 of them of her own breeding. Among her chief successes were the Great Northern Derby of 1896 with Fabulist, and the Auckland Cup of 1910 with Waimangu, and that of 1911 with Santa Rosa. All three were in her ownership at the time of those successes, though the first and last-named ran later in other colours. Of all the deceased lady's horses her favourite was the bonny mare Vieux Rose, whose descendants are even now being raced by one of Mrs. Lennard's sons.
