. Mr. Semple referred to the threat Of industrialisation that had once menaced the foreshore, which he was confident would now remain as the heritage of the people. In the development of any community sport played a large part, and he congratulated the club on the wide range of its activities in the yachting world of Wellington. Proof of the successful future ahead of the club had been afforded that day by the skilful and courageous handling of the seven-footers by the boys: After making reference to the pioneers of yachting in Wellington. Mr. Duncan complimented Captain Keane for his successful efforts towards the solution of the Sanders Cup difficulties. The club was fortunate, he said, in having a. commodore. of such ability.
