OBITUARY
SIR ALFRED PARKER
(Received October 19, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. i The death has occurred, at the age lof 60 years, of Sir Alfred Livingstone | Parker, Lord Mayor of Sydney, aftet : a protracted illness. He was held in : high esteem by all sections of the com- | munity.
There will be a State funeral on Monday.
Sir Alfred Parker* had been an alderman on the Sydney City Council since 1930 and was elected Lord Mayor in 1933, with the support of the Labour aldermen, and again in 1934 and 1935, on the last occasion after considerable controversy owing to differences between the Eeform and Labour Parties and to his strained relations with the former. He was a-member of the legal firm of Dibbs, Parker, and Parker, and for three years was chairman of the finance committee of the council. He was knighted in the last Birthday Honours.
