POSTER CONTEST
AUCKLAND GIRL'S SUCCESS
.i A .poster competition held by the New Zealand Territorial Association, Northern Command, with a view to stimulating recruiting,: has been won by Miss E. Slaughter, of Auckland (states the "New Zealand Herald"). She received the first prize, a cheque for £3 3s, on Thursday, which was her birthday. A poster submitted by Miss Joan Edwards' was awarded second prize, while Mr. R. A., Pickmere's entry was placed third. Although the number of entries for the contest was disappointingly few— there being only nine posters submitter, compared with .45 for a. similar contest last year—the general standard was high. In the winning design black and white predominate, colours being used sparingly. The result is a striking poster, notable for the excellent lettering and a quiet but effective style. ' ' The association proposes to display the posters submitted, in the hope of bringing before the notice of the young men of the Auckland' district the need for, more recruits for the Territorial Forces o£ the Dominion.
