ELVES OF THE RING:
One story of Spring has already arrived . . . together with two of the most delicious scrapbookj. Strictly speaking "delicious" should be applied only to things to eat but it has a specially nice sound and really suits the two beautiful boohs Lassie brought. And there are rumours of other books begun, some half-finished, and others nearly ready for posting. Let's try to beat our own scrapbook record this year, pixies. And about stories . . . In case you missed the Fairy Ring last Saturday, here are the rules. Tales for the Spring Page competition must be about New Zealand trees, -flowers, .birds,, or insects. No story must be longer than 800 words and every one must be at the Ring by Saturday, October 12. Elves of any age up to sixteen may^ enter. Going to try? Have you noticed how gardens are growing lovelier every day. In my own there's a deep border of heavenly blue grape-hyacinths like stiff, blue-coated soldiers marching down the lawn's edge to th-e gate and rose-scented stock blooms beside the unfolding, velvet of wallflowers. At night there is a magic fragrance on the air. Are your very-own-gardens .in, bloom too?.
