"UGLY ROLE OF WRECKER"

(By Telegraph.) (Special to the "Evening Post.")

DUNEDIN, This Day. The "Otago Daily Times," editorially, says; "The only points in the Democrats' programme entirely free from vagueness are the proposals to remove the sales tax and gold duty. As for the rest,-as Mr. Hislop admits, the principles of the party are not new. What, then, is the excuse for its thrusting itself upon the electors at the present juncture? There is only one alternative to the National Government, and that is the Labour Party. In these circumstances the organisation of any third party is purely mischievous. It is not as.;though this third party had any, original programme to. offer the country. If it had, there might conceivably have been some justification for, its existence, and as there seems to be hardly a remote prospect of success of any of its candidates at the polls it presents itself simply in the ugly role of wrecker."
