MR. JOHN WILLYS
NEW YORK, August 25. The death has occurred of Mr. Johs Willys, automobile manufacturer, and at one tune United States Ambassador: to Poland.
Mr. John North Willys started hi£ business career in a bicycle business at Canandargua, New York, in 1890 Later he removed to Elmira and organised the Elmira Arms Company also engaging in selling motor-cars on a large scale. In 1907 he purchased the Indianapolis plant of the Overland Automobile Co., and two years later bought the Pope Toledo plant at Toledo. Later he was chairman of the board and co receiver of the Willys-Overland Co^ Toledo, and the Willys-Morrow Co., Elmira Prom 1930 to 1932 he was United states Ambassador to E-oland tie owned one of tba most famous coliec* tions of oil paintings in t)hio.
