RECENT MEETINGS

ORDER OF DRUIDS,

Pride of Brooklyn Lodge.—A.D. Bro. G^W. James presided over a good attendance. Visitors included Bros. Taylor and Ogden (Royal Arch Chapter). One new member was initiated .and two candidates were proposed for membership..- The ;bards reported one sick member, and sick pay was passed accordingly. The lodge was judged for the ritual competition. The secretary, Bro. Tremayne, stated that the Trentham racecourse had been secured for the annual Druids1' picnic, to be held on New Year's Day. Brql Cressey reported on the recent activities of the Medical Institute. A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs. Giddens for'her hospitality and the use of her residence to members of the lodge for ritual practices. Bro. Rogers was elected delegate to the Royal Arch Chapter. A vot of thanks to visitors concluded the business of the evening. ' ORDER OF RECHABITES. 'Centenary Celebrations.—A.combined meeting of city and suburban branches was held last week to celebrate the centenary of the Order by a united initiation' ceremony.- The chairs were ocbupied- by past officers of the different tents, Sister L. Johnson,. Provincial C.R., supported by Bro. F. E. Davis, D.C.R:, occupying the principal office. A muster of candidates came, forward, and1 the charges were given in* a manner to all concerned. A combined installation of officers of the same branches followed, the ceremony beinf performed by Bro. F. E. Davis, D.C.R., assisted by Bros. F. Jobson, D.G., and D. "Wilson, acting D.1.;, as installing levites. Bros. T. Fathers, D.S., H. Jeffery, D.T., F. Johnson, acting D.D.R., H. Smith, D. Trustee, and Sister L. Johnson, P.D;S.F.M., also assisted. The D.C.R. presented Sister Martin, Bros. Anderson, Dixon, Chadburn, and G. Jeffery• with P.C. ruler's regalia. A dance followed the meeting. '

Juvenile Rally.— A juvenile rally in 'connection with the Rechabite centenary? was held on Saturday. About 100 members, many accompanied by their parents, sat down to tea. The juvenile superintendents and willing helpers were kept busy at the tables, ; after which the hall was cleared and 25 candidates were initiated into the juvenile section, the ceremony being conducted by Brq. F. B. Clark, D.S.J.T., of Wanganui, assisted by Bro. J. Cox, provincial C.R., of Palmerston North, and juvenile officers. Short addresses were given by the officers mentioned, after which games and competitions were held. ■"■•'■ MANCHESTER UNITY . . . ODDFELLOWS. Loyal Rose of Sharon Lodge (Upper Hutt).— Bro. N. J. Kitchen presided. One candidate was admitted and two friends proposed for membership. Sick ■pay amounting to £16 was authorised for payment. The Upper Hutt Bowling Club was "given .permission to use the, lodge's set of indoor bowls for a tournament in connection with a queen carnival, and it was resolved that the lodge enter two rinks. A donation was passed to assist the committee set up to provide a district nurse for Upper Hutt. The lodge then adjourned for harmony, playing indoor bowls. '

Xoyal Victoria Diamond Lodge (Levin).—A special meeting was held recently .for the reception of the District Grand Master (Bro. K. Cropp) and his officers, together with members of Wellington and suburban lodges. Bro. W. Smith presided and accorded the visitors lodge honours. At the conclusion- the District Grand .Master- held a meeting of past grands, and Bros. Hansen, Bowater, and Wright were elevated to the Purple Degree. A social was later held -to entertain visitors, and a thoroughly enjoyable evening was spent by a large gathering. Mrs. Hough contributed an extra, and the supper arrangements were "in the capable hands of a committee of ladies. The quarterly meeting df Loyal Victoria Diamond Lodge was held on the regular meeting night, being presided over by the Noble Grand, Bro. W. Smith. A new member was initiated. After closing the card tourney was advanced a further stage. , ■ ■ y. , 1.0.0. F., N.Z. Muritai Lodge.—-The regular meeting was held this week at Day's Bay. Bro. A.
