PONEKE CLUB
Thirteen riders started in the senior lace conducted by the Poneke Club on Saturday, the poor field being mainly accounted for by the fact that a heavy northerly was blowing. The distance was 33 miles, and H Houston outsprinted Leo Walsh to win first place and the fastest tune, while the latter took second place and second fastest time. Both were off the twominute mark R Gabes' (18mm) rode a good race, and held the lead almost entirely throughout until ■ within' 200 yaids of the finish. At the start of the thud and last lap Gabeb was still over six minutes ahead of Houston^ and Walsh. Evans was second at this stage, and Duncalf third Results were—H Houston (2), lhr 33min 30sec, 1 and fastest, Leo Walsh (2); lhr 33min 31sec, 2 and second fastest, L. Gabes (18), lhr 49 mm 44sec, 3.
In the junior event, over a distance of eleven miles, the results were as follows -^-G Phillips (4), 35mm 53sec, 1; G Howard (scr), 31min 18sec, fastest time.
