UNPLEASANT ODOUR
A correspondent in a lengthy letter refers to an unpleasant smell which he asserts is perceptible, at Highland Park due to operations on the Hutt Road, which involve the. boiling of whale oil. From ■" inquiries made it appears that the Government Health Officers do not consider there is any danger to health from the odours arising from the boiling. It has been ascertained that there are usually intervals of from six weeks to three months between the boilings, which are carried out only on days when the wind will carry away-the fumes, and that, in fact, every effort has been made .to minimise what nuisance tiierq is, ,
