WELLINGTON COLTS TEAM
SELECTION FOR TOUR
, This season's ■ tour by a Wellington Rugby Union colts team is to be in the South Island, the programme providing for matches in four of the Seddon Shield districts—Marlborough, Golden Bay-Motueka, West Coast, and Buller. The team is to leave Wellington on Monday. It is to be captained by E. J. Reid, captain ,of the Petone senior team, who is retiring from the game after long service as a player, including nearly fifty appearances in representative matches. '
The matches to be played by the colts team are:—
September.4.—v. Golden Bay-Motu-eka, at Motueka.
September 7.—v. Buller, at Westport. September 11.—v. West Coast, at Hokitika. >
September 14.—v. Marlborough, at Blenheim.
The selection of the colts team is to be completed by Mr. M. F. Nicholls after the trial match on Saturday. Aljready, however, thirteen players have been chosen for the tour, and only six places remain to be filled. It is pointed out that the colts' team announced for Saturday's match is not the team to go on tour. The following players have definitely been v selected for the tour:— Backs: Cresswell (Wellington), Manders (Hutt), Langdon (Marist Bros. Old Boys), Spence (Petone), and Greenbank' (Hutt). • Forwards: Saulbrey (Hutt),' M." Wright (Wellington College Old Boys), Pringle (Poneke), Reid (Petone), captain, Ropata (Marist Bros. Old Boys) Carter (Petone), Waite (Eastbourne), and McLean' (Wellington). In the colts team for the trial match next Saturday Upchurch (Athletic) is replaced by G. Reynolds (Wellington College Old Boys) and Karsten (Athletic) is included as emergency back. ' i . '
