VALEDICTORY
Mr. and Mrs. A: Gib'os arid Miss H. Gibbs, B.Sc, who are leaving" shortly for an extended trip abroad, were farewelled by the members and adherents of the Island Bay Baptist Church at a meeting held in the Sunday School Hair on Sunday evening after church. ; The minister, the Rev. A. L. Silcock, was in the chair, and there was a large number present. Mrs. H. W. Milner, who spoke for the ladies of the church, and Mr. J. McHutchon, who represented the Sunday school and choir, both voiced the appreciation of the Church for the many years of faithful service rendered to the church by the guests of honour. The Rev. A. L.' Silcock then presented a travelling rug as a mark of the Church's affection, and wished the recipients God-speed upon their journeying. Mr., Mrs., and Miss Gibbs suitably replied.
On the previous Friday evening the members of the Island Bay Baptist Girls' Life Brigade Company made a presentation to Mrs. Gibbs, who has been captain of the company, and to Miss Gibbs, who has been lieutenant.
A pleasant party was given recently at Kirkcaldie and Stains to farewell Mrs. .W. Taylor, by the executive and committee of the Kelburn branch of the League of Mothers. The hostesses, Mrs. C. F. J. McPhee and Mrs. R. Tait, welcomed the guests in the lounge. The table had been charmingly decorated with spring flowers in the league colours. At the conclusion of a dainty afternoon tea Mrs. McPhee (secretary) presented Mrs. Taylor with a book handsomely bound in blue and gold, and a bouquet of beautiful flowers, as a token of the esteem in which she is held by all, and the regret felt at her departure for Australia. Good wishes were expressed for her future health and happiness. Mrs. Taylor suitably replied. ' Those present included Mesdames Dallard, Inglis, McLean, Buddie, McPhee, Fyfe, Steel, Kirk, G. Thompson, Mason, Taylor, Turner, W. Thompson, Morris Jones, McCurdy, Davidson, and Tait.
