ORDER OF DRUIDS

Poneke Lodge.—A.D. Bro. Nicholson presided over a good attendance. The bards reported on sick'brethren and the_ sum of £16 Is 4d was passed for payment. The case of a brother in distress was brought to the notice of members and it was resolved to render financial assistance. Accounts totalling £1D and a maternity claim of £6 were passed for payment. The presidential address, together with a full report of the proceedings of the last annual meeting of the Dominion Friendly Societies' Council, was received. After a lengthy discussion on the juvenile movement a committee was formed to investigate the position and find ways and means to further the interests of juveniles. The A.D. reminded members that the lodge had accepted an invitation to attend the Methodist Church, Nelson Street, Petone, at the evening service on Sunday, August 11. After concluding business the lodge was closed and members participated in games of indoor bowls. GRAND UNITED ODDFELLOWS." Loyal Ryde Branch.—Bro. H. Tingay, N.G., presided over a good attendance. Bro. B. Ryde, P.N.G., supervised. One member was reported sick and sick allowance was passed accordingly. Reports were received on the approaching tug-o'-war contest, Karori Combined Friendly Society dance, and the recent table tennis tournament. One member was accepted and two proposed for membership. It was decided to purchase a table tennis board. A team was entered in the tug-o'-war contest. It was decided to call a lodge of instruction for next meeting. Star of Newtown Branch.—The branch was presided over by the N.G., Sister J. Ryde. There was a good attendance. The auditors' report was received and urgent business only dealt with, the meeting closing early to allow tVie branch to proceed with a social evening. A team from William Bain branch was present to play for the Martin Card Cup. The games resulted in a win for William Bam Branch. A very enjoyable evening was spent at cards, games, competitions, and dancing. A large number of visitors were present. MANCHESTER UNITY ODDFELLOWS. Loyal Masterton Lodge.—Bro. W. Palmer presided over a good attendance. Three new members were initiated. A report on the Friendly Societies' card tourneys was presented by Bro. L. Waters. The usual lodge card tournament was reported on by the secretary, who stated that the attendance continued to be good. It was resolved to challenge the W.F.C.A. to a ping-pong match during August. Advice was received that the next Wairarapa Past Grands' Lodge meeting would be held at Carterton at an early date. Arrangements were put in hand for Masterton Lodge to pay, if possible, an official visit to Sister Wallis Lodge, Wellington. Notification was received that Wellington district officers were paying an official visit in August to the Victoria Diamond Lodge, Levin. A representative committee met to further the proposal of holding a dance in Masterton at an early date. At the conclusion of business members played cards and ping-pong. Loyal Britannia Lodge—Bro. Treadwell, Noble Grand, presided. Three new members were initiated. -Lodge honours were accorded a visitor from Sister Wallis Lodge. A motion of sympathy was passed in respect to the death of the wife of Bro. Davidson. Advice was received from Masterton Lodge of a benefit dance to be held early in August. Essential business dealt with, the lodge adjourned and a dance was held, which was thoroughly enjoyed by a large gathering of members and friends. Bro. Treadwell was M.C. and Bro: Leggett provided the music, extras being supplied by other members. RECHABITE CENTENARY. Further entertainments to celebrate their centenary year were held by the Rechabites on Saturday last in the Rechabite Chambers. In the afternoon an indoor bowls tournament was held. Seven r-inks competed and after keen and friendly competition Kilbirnie team, with F. G. Johnson as skip, were declared the winners. The Excelsior ladies' team, with Miss Elsie Jeffrey as skip, were runners-up. In the evening an enjoyable card party was held, the- prize-winners being Mrs. D. J. Wilson and Mrs". White, and Mr. W.

White and Mr. M. H. Jeffrey. Supper was supervised by Mrs. F. E. Davis, after which dancing was enjoyed until midnight. ORDER OF RECHABITES. Court Lady Glasgow.—C.R. Sister A. Morris presided over a good attendance. The Woodwards' reports were received and sick pay passed for payment. Sister H. Lawton presented Sister J. Kivell with the Foresters' Neck Ribbon and Certificate upon her retirement as C.R. Sister Tester was elected to represent the Court at a meeting of the Friendly Societies' Bowls' Association. Routine business concluded, bowls was played by members. ORDER OF FORESTERS. Court Robin Hood.—Bro. T. Bailey presided over a well-attended meeting. The woodwards reported on sick brothers they had visited. The quarterly j balance-sheet was presented and vari-! ous accounts passed for payment. Bro. P. Walker, delegate to the W.U.F.S. Dispensary, reported on the business transacted at the' last meeting of the board. Bro. H. Whitcomb, delegate to the A.C.F. Hospital Association, also presented his report. A lot of routine business was disposed of, after which the court went into harmony.
