MAE WEST'S ASSESSMENT
HOLLYWOOD, July 20,
The records of the Los Angeles tax collector revealed today some interesting facts concerning the wealth of prominent movie stars. While not wholly indicative of the possessions of these actors and actresses;, nevertheless the. records reflect something of their position economically.
John Barrymore's property has an assessed valuation oi! 56,575 dollars, almost all of which is represented by his yacht Infanta. A year ago the gross assessment against him was 96,440 dollars. Mac West's assessment is only 4600 dollars, and her property is mostly in the form of jewellery. Chaplin's property has an assessed valuation of 2,629,000 dollars, compared with 3,051,000 dollars last year, and is mostly in stocks and bonds.
Other assessments include the following:—Mary Pickliord, 1,465,000 dollars, compared with 2,685,000 dollars in 1934; Douglas Fairbanks, only 39,540 dollars, compared with 1,696,000 dollars in 1934; Harold Lloyd, 443,000 dollars; and Norma Shearer, 305,000 dollars.
