TARRANT'S TEAM
BOARD VOTING BY MAIL v ADELAIDE, July 20. The secretary of the Board of Control (Mr. W. H. Jeanes) is still awaiting replies from some members of the board to permit finality to be reached with regard to Tarrant's team for India. It is understood that a decision would have been reached immediately had ; the proposal been considered round a table. Correspondence between board members and the secretary and the chairman have caused long delays.
• The delay has been brought about by the fact that the list of nineteen players which Mr. Tarrant submitted to the Board of Control for approval had to be sent to the thirteen members of the board throughout the Commonwealth, who were to advise by mail of their approval or otherwise. It is possible, also, that the programme, which includes matches against "All India," will have to be amended as the board will not sanction anything that savours even remotely of a Test match.
