GERMANY AND U.S.A. YON CRAMM BEATS ALLISON DAVIS CUP ZONE FINAL United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph— Copyright. (Received July 23, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 22. ' The second singles in the inter-zone final of the Davis Cup competition at Wimbledon resulted: — G. yon Cramm (Germany) defeated W. L. Allison (U.S.A.), 8-6, 6-3, G-4. A terrific fight developed in the first set. The American led 3-1 and 4-2 and appeared to have the set in hand when the German increased the pressure of his service and drives and won the set after every point had been fought out in long rallies. The second set was a tamer affair. Yon Cramm was definitely superior all round and out-drove and outmanoeuvred Allison. Allison struggled desperately in the third set, but a tendency to over-drive and double-fault at critical stages lost him chances. Allison's occasional brilliance was no match for the German's steadier resourcefulness.
The two countries have now won one singles match each..
