EASTBOURNE STREETS
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —Whilst appreciating the inconvenience caused to motorists by people walking on the ,bitumen at Eastbourne (as reported at the Eastbourne Borough Council meeting), I should like to ask Councillor Shearer and tha Mayor where are the mothers.of young babies to push their prams? And where shall little Eustace pedal his tricycle as he bowls along in the rearguard? Also, what of our invalids whose means of getting about-is a wheel chair? Not on the footpath,' because in some places the> footpath' is; almost' useless a3 such for prams. 'For instance, near the Muritai Tennis Club the .footpath is just a miniature sandhill, and on the opposite side of the road pram-pushing on the footpath becomes an obstacle event —dodging gravel, stones, rotten rock, etc. The same applies to the patn from Hinau Street to Miro Street While I shall walk facing the traffic, as suggested, I certainly Intend to continue to use the bitumen. My pram is of more importance in the scheme of things than cars.—l am, etc., ■
