RAIN DEVELOPING Special forecast for Wellington:— Calm at first, but easterly to southeasterly winds . soon prevailing and freshening1. . Weather dull and misty with rain soon getting: in. The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today, is for strong north-easterly to easterly winds to-the north of Kawhia and East Cape, reaching gale force in places, and for north-easterlies to south-easterlies elsewhere. The latter will bs moderate mainly, but will freshen about and to the north of Cook Strait. . The weather will be dull with much mist or fog and fairly general rain will ba developing. Further heavy falls with flooding are probable in the Auckland and Bay. of Plenty districts. On the west coast of the South Island, however, the weather should be mainly fair. . The anticyclone which has been covering the Dominion for the last few days is now moving away slowly eastward, and a depression; is situated to the west of the North Island. There has been further rain in the' Auckland district, but elsewhere the weather has been mainly fair to fine,. although a few isolated and light showers have fallen on the east coast and about Cape Egmont. Since last night, however, except on, the west coast of the South Island, the weather has become cloudy and misty generally. Winds between north-east and south-east have ruled in the North Island and have been moderate mainly, although strong in places in the far north. Over the South Island winds have been rather variable in direction and, only light in force.

Auckland has had a continuance of unsettled arid wet weather. Continuous light to moderate raia has fallen with a moderate to strong north-easterly wind.

■Wellington had a fine day yesterday with continuous sunshine amounting to 8.3 hours. A light easterly wind prevailed, but sintfe last night it has been calm and conditions this morning were overcast.

Christchurch has had dull weather with a light easterly wind, and a,light drizzle, amounting in all to three points or rain, fell late yesterday atfernoon and evening. The weather at 9 a.m. today was still overcast with a gentle south-westerly breeze.

Dunedin's weather yesterday was fine and 9unny with a light northerly wind. It was still fine this morning, 'but hazy, the wind having changed to a southerly breeze
