A BLENHEIM RUMOUR
(By Telegraph.—Press Associatiou.) , ' BLENHEIM This Day. Rumours are in circulation that: a poisoned chocolate case developed at Springlands, a suburb of Blenheim, last week. The police are extremely reticent but it is known that Detective Sinclair, of Nelson, and local officers have been pursuing inquiries for some days. ■ ■ It is stated that a Springlands resident received a box of chocolates and that investigation showed they had been tampered with, but fortunately, as the result of the publicity given to recent cases elsewhere* none of the sweets were eaten.
Sergeant Smythe, who is in charge of the local police station, when pressed for information said that he preferred to say nothing.
