MR. JUSTICE CALLAN'S POSITION
On the retirement of Sir Alexander Herdman from the Supreme Court Bench on July 31, Mr. Justice Callan will be appointed a permanent Judge. Mr. Justice Callan was appointed a temporary Judge on May 1 to act during the period of absence of leave of Sir Alexander Herdman.
The Acting Attorney-General (the Hon. J. G. Cobbe) stated to a "Post" reporter today that the arrangement made when Mr. Justice Callan was appointed to the Judiciary was that on the retirement. of Sir Alexander he would automatically become a permanent Judge. ,
