K. Quist and D. P. Turnbull (Australia) defeated G. P. Hughes and C. R. D. Tuckey (Britain), 3-6, 0-3, 8-6, 0-4. Turnbull was the best of the four. Ho served and smashed with savage accuracy. The Australians were generally superior in volleying and smashing. Tuckey, England's new Davis Cup recruit, is plajing much better with added experience. He is serving powerfully and his ground strokes have improved.
