GISBORNE TRACK NOTES
With the Poverty Bay Turf Club's Meeting to be held next Thursday and Saturday, there is increasing activity on the park tracks, says a Gisborne report, and several horses are well enough forward to look good prospects for success at the fixture. Among these are Sunny Sky, Victor Colima, and De Friend, who are working in their best style. W. Gqscomb has Gold Stitch and Hoyal Mimic in forward condition, and alsp the jumpers Kahunoke and Hunting Lass, who have been much improved by their racing in the Hawke's Bay district. Royal Welcome, Atlantus. and Malahat are all doing fairly well.
Puccini, a gelding by Prince Willonyx from Nordica, therefore a halfbrother to Cohesion, jumps very well, and has a fair amount of pace. Quake is in work, but is not very forward.
W. D. Turnbull has his two Weathervane mares Vanestep'and Warvane in hand. ' Both have recently sprinted nicely over a few furlongs, showing they are ready to race. Bonny Song, in 'the same stable, galloped pleasingly during the week, and showed her ability to handle the heavy ground. Mata Hari, Quaint, and Brusher comprised the team in charge of Chas. Wright. Quaint is working in improved style. ,The Brusher is a newcomer by Colossus from Wallaby, therefore a half-brother to Cawbeen and Toboggan, and his gallops show him to be possibly the makings of a very useful sort.
Bothwell and Golden Pennant are in W. Marshall's charge. The former looks and moves much better than he- has for a long time. Ua-ia and Tai Ao have done a lot of good solid work^ and the former gallops very well.
