HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
' The first general committee meeting of the Wellington Horticultural Society for the new season was held last evening. Mrs. Kn6x Gilmer (president), presided. Several > new committee members were welcomed. An offer from the National Daffodil Society of its medals.as a prize for a special class of daffodils in the spring show was accepted with thanks, and it was decided to affiliate with that society. Committees in connection with the schedule were set up, and it was decided to continue flower evenings with displays and talks. The date and place will be advertised later of a special evening to be devoted to the cultivation of roses, -with practical demonstrations of pruning. • An extra show is to be held in January for gladiolas, hydtrangeas, begonias, dahlias, etc., and the. date was left to the schedule committiee. The meeting expressed its appreciation of the inauguration of the Beautifying Society by offering to assist in any way possible. Mention was also made of the wonderful success of the annual meeting of the society.
