RELIEF FOR THE POOR
BOSTONIAN'S PLAN
LONG-TERM INSURANCE POLICY
BOSTON, July 7,
An interesting plan for providing for the poor of the future has'been revealed with the disclosure that Governor Curley four years ago took out an ■11,000-dollar a year insurance policy, which is now reposing in a vault, "for the relief of the needy poor of Boston."
It does not become effective, however, until 125 years after the death of his last surviving child. Meanwhile, it will be accumulating in value and is expected to reach 45,548,000 dollars, sufficient to provide'2loo families with 20 dollars a week.
Mr. Curley declared that if two more citizens of Boston would take but similar policies there would eventually be no poor at Boston, and no need for welfare work.
