The Wellington Racing Club's Winter Meeting will be'continued on Thursday and concluded on Saturday. Acceptances for the second day's racing at Trentham will close at noon tomorrow.

Gold Cure, whose latest form has been very consistent, and who beat an open field at Levin last Saturday week, will make his first appearance at the Wellington Meeting this week in the Highweight Handicap on Thursday. Two other horses who may be on hand for Thursday's Highweight Handicap at Trenth'am are Confiscation and Tupurangi. The latter was a disappointment at Levin, but she won well at the March Meeting in her single appearance, and she is able to handle bad going. . ' Two-year-olds have an advantage in weight in the second day's Trial Plate at Trentham, and five of the age who may be runners are Bumble,■> Debham, Fiord, Hilton Gorse, and Romp AIOII3. Fiord and Romp Along have won a race, but Bumble and Debham may prove a better pair. Bumble is an in{proving half-brother-to Admiral Drake, and Debham has come back greatly benefited with his autumn let-up. Three Trentham horses who may be given their first race in the Trial Plate on Thursday . are Ayresleigh, Manyrewa, and Mowgli. Ayresleigh is a three-year-old half-brother by Captain Bunsby to Tvliherval; Manurewa is a three-year-old full-sister to the northern winner Swift Spear (Spear Dance —Swift Bird); and Mowgli is a thres-year-old half-brother by Chief Ruler to Forestry. After a two months' visit to Australia, Mr. W. T. Hazlett, well-known Invercargill racehorse owner, returned to New Zealand from Sydney by the Maunganui yesterday. Mr. Hazlett has nine horses racing in Australia, and he proposes .to send over a further six, mostly yearlings, direct from the Bluff at the end of the month. He was accompanied by his trainer, F. J. It will be in this race that Manawatu make's his debut in.the role, and another new to the game may be Arctic A report from Australia states that the Night Raid colt Lebengula, owned by Mrs. A. F. Roberts and Mr. K. Austin, is to be added to the list of geldings and treated to a spell. He is a big horse and looks a racehorse, and no doubt he is expected to benefit from the operation. According to a northern report Emancipation has again resumed work, following a period of, idleness since contesting the Great Northern Hurdles. Unfortunately for his connections he met with a mishap while schooling that left very little time for,him to be prepared for the big jumping events, consequently his winter racing was restricted. The popular Takanini trainer C. Morse has been discharged from hospital, where he underwent three operations, He is at present convalescing at home, and his many friends will be glad to know that he is well on the road to recovery. , At present the Te Awamutu tramsr E Murtagh is confining-, his attention to Fast Acre, but he will shortly take Tuaheahe, who has been on' the easy list, in hand again. Lucidus has been resting and has been absent from the tracks for some weeks. Murtagh may also add to his team a youngster by Oration.
