WEDDINGS

NAIRN—HUME,

The marriage was solemnised recently at St. John's Presbyterian Church, of Eae Joan, second' daughter of Mrs. E. J. Hume, Kelburri, and Roderick Stewart, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Nairn, Kohuratahi, Taranaki. The officiating minister was the Rev. J. R. Blanchard, 8.A., the organist being Mr. W. Lawrence Haggitt.

The bride, who was escorted by her grandfather, .Mr. James Craigie, wore a gown of.silver lame cut on classical lines with a slight train. Her girdle was of heavy silver and she wore silver sandals. Her veil of soft tulle fell gracefully from a circlet of orange blossom and she carried a bouquet of violets. She was attended by her two sisters, the Misses Kathleen and Gretchen Hume, who were charmingly gowned in deep Parma violet chiffon velvet also cut on classical lines, and wearing heavy silver girdles. They wore silver sandals, and carried bouquets of violets, ribboned with silver. Mr. Keith Whisker (Feilding) was the best man, and Mr. James Hume (brother of the bride) was groomsman.

The guests were entertained at a reception held at the Midland Hotel, and were received by Mrs. E. J. Hume, the bride's mother, wearing a black silk velvet gown and black, velvet toque. Mrs. J. A. Nairn, the bridegroom's mother, wore a frock of black marocain relieved with ivory and hat to match. Among the guests present were Mr. and Mrs. James Craigie (grandparents of the bride).

The bride and bridegroom later left for a tour of the north. Their future home will be in Taranaki. .
