INDOOR BOWLING
VARIOUS COMPETITIONS
A start has been made with, the Inter-House Indoor Bowling Cup competition, for which seventeen rinks have entered. The first game was between Colonial Motors, Ltd., and the Barr-Brown Construction Co., Ltd., and- was evenly contested, Colonial Motors winning. The scores were: Colonial Motors, Bringads, Ornsuen, Kirk, Jones (s), 20; Barr-Brown, Arthur, Mildenhall, McDonald, Parry (s) 16. Further games are being played this week. On Saturday afternoon rinks were fully occupied at the Indoor Bowling Green. The badge holders, Goldfinch Wylie J. O'Gorman, and Shillson (s) successfully defended a challenge by Coburn, Sando, Conder, and Jack O'Gorman (s), the score being 25-19. Inglis, Stewart, McDonald (s), 15; Blease, Gibson, Hamilton, Burbidge The Silver Ferns changed hands during the week, the holders, Wrigley, Mason, Wellings, Lawrie (s), being defeated by Bell, Allen, McWhannell, Johnstone (s), by 20-17. Keen interest is being taken in the competitions and many challenges are being entered. The Saturday night tournament, was contested by six rinks, each playing three games of 9 heads on a time limit of one hour for each game. The prizes were fancy tins of tea to the winners and a canister of tea to the runnersup. The following are the results: — First round: Williams, Stacey, Hale, Johnston (s), 6; Newton, Sands, Donald, Raven (s), 5. Coburn, Craig, Hart, Edwards (s), 17; J. Ross, O'Gorman, Stonebanks, F. Ross (s), 8. Green, Anstey, Rae, Kershaw (s), 6; McDonald, .McLean, Parsons, Duncan (s), 5. Second round: Johnston 9, Edwards 4; Raven 7, Duncan 4; Ross 11, Kershaw 6. Third round: Johnston 6, Duncan 4; Edwards 9, Kershaw 7; Ross 15, Raven .2. Johnston's was the only rink to. go through with three wins. Ross and Edwards tied with two wins each for second place, Edwards's rink taking the prizes on .aggregate points.
