SMALL CAPITALISTS
PROGRESS BY EVOLUTION
- The capital owned by small investors in Great : Britain ' today exceeds £3,000,000,000. .This figure was quoted by Lord Iliffe when he spoke at the recent centenary dinner of the Coventry Savinpi Bank, Coventry.
The only rear fault of the capitalist system, said Lord Iliffe, was that capital was in too few hands. They should do all in their power to increase the number of capitalists—of men and women witha stake in the country.
As a result of such institutions as the Coventry Savings Bank, and the more enlightened' policy of manufacturers and the growth of the thrift habit, ttfe process of creating capitalists was proceeding rapidly. It would ensure that the nation would continue to progress by evolution and not by revolution.
