TWO FAST GAMES
FOR CHATHAM CUP EXPECTED RESULTS Chatham Cup games occupied the attention of the four Soccer championship leaders in fine weather on Saturday afternoon, and Hospital and Waterside occasioned no surprise by winning their way into the Wellington final. On the Basin Reserve, Waterside again showed their slight superiority over Marist, whom they defeated by 1 goal to 0 in a fair enough exhibition of the code. At Hospital, Petone tried hard to down the home side, but failed to the extent of 3 goals to 1 in one of the brightest contests seen there for a long time. Institute, Old Boys, and Diamond improved their positions in championship games by securing victory in two big-scoring games. On No. 2 ground at the Basin Reserve Institute beat Swifts by 5 goals to 4, and at Lower Hutt Diamond took»an easy 8-3 win from the local eleven. Seatoun. Technical Old Boys, and Scottish Wanderers still retain their leading positions in the first B division championship, though Technical dropped a point in a 2-2 draw with Nada, who with Island Bay are now lying in fourth place. Seatoun had little trouble in defeating Miramar Rangers by 6 goals to 0, but Scottish Wanderers ran up only 4 goals to Onslow's one. Island Bay took a somewhat unexpected win from Stop Out by the odd goal in three scored in a hard I contest. Rovers had a bye.
