REPORTS AND RETURNS Mahakipawa Goldfields, Ltd., reports for week ended July 4:—No. 2 blocking strip south advanced to 30ft ] in poor grade wash. Bottom extremely hard and smooth and rising gradually. The co-ordinates of this face now 1495 south by 137 west. North prospecting drive started from end of north blocking strip and driven 15ft in poor grade wash. This appears to be following v/estern wall on one side while on eastern side of drive bottom is 18in underfoot. A south-east drive started from point 1410 south by 175 west to connect with above north prospecting drive. The first 18ft of this in old workings. When this is through will have an almost straight run through to Golden Gate shaft. The easterly strip mentioned last week cleaned up underfoot and yielded 320z coarse gold, one piece being 25dwt, and several others were over 15dwt. This strip is now finished. Up to the present operations on the new gutter, of which about 70ft has been stripped, have yielded a total of HOoz alluvial gold. ■ STAFFORD SLUICING, LTD. Stafford Sluicing, Ltd., reports a wash-up of 13oz lldwt for twelve shifts. This is the first wash-up since sluicing ceased in November last, owing to lack of water caused by the break-ing-away of the supply dam. MOSSY CREEK DIVIDEND. At a meeting of directors of the Mossy Creek Gold Dredging Company on Friday, a dividend (the second) of one penny was declared payable on August 1. GOLDEN DAWN. For 12 working days ending June 24 the return from 317 tons of ore crushed was £1614, with gold at £7 2s an ounce. TALISMAN DUBBO. For 57J tons of ore crushed at • the Golden Dawn battery, the approximate realisation was £435. WORKSOP EXTENDED. The AVorksop Extended dredge returned 89oz 15dwt for 123 hours, from 8376 yards. BIG RIVER GOLD MINES. Big 'River reports for week ending July 4: —Work resumed on Monday, July 1. 'Practically no damage occurred during the month work was suspended owing to wages strike. No. 4 level: Work continued in north and south stopes, also in north and south drives. Preparation for sinking winze from No. 4 level being made. The face in north, drive showing stone' 2ft, 6in wide. No change of any importance in the south drive face. One lift of 12ft in the main shaft timbered and packed. The second lift of 12ft to connect with timber below chamber is in progress. This will complete shaft from No. 4 chamber to where shaft is blocked and filled a distance of 40ft. Stone sent to the battery, 57 tons.

Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report:—At'the London sheepskin sales there was good competition, good selection, and a good attendance of buyers. 'As compared with the closing rates of last series, prices were:—Merino, 10 per cent, higher; -halfbred and fine crossbred, 15 per cent, higher; medium and low crossbreds, 10 to 15 per cent., higher.
