JOHNSONVILLE LINE
PROBABLE ABANDONMENT
RESIDENTS PERTURBED
Residents of Ngaio, Khandallah, and Johnsonville are not happy over the prospects of success for the representations made by the central committee representing the Ngaio and Khandallah district associations and the Johnsonville Town Board for improved rail transport to and from the city. The committee, which was set up some time ago, advocated a more frequent rail service, and also the electrification of that length of line,, but it is understood that it has not been able to make much headway. The position is not altogether clear, but there is reason for the committee to believe that the Railways Board will cease train services on this length when the Tawa Flat deviation is brought into commission, probably early in 1937.
